Before I begin this new rambling dear reader, I must assure you although things have been quiet on the blog of late, there are multiple creative ventures bubbling away behind the scenes at Books, Films and Random Lunacy. A number of which I can’t mention presently, as they are still being forged in the most imaginative corners of my mind, however when they emerge from my consciousness you’ll be the first to know.
One thing I can mention through, is my latest publication in the second issue of ‘The Indie Project.’ The magazine’s creator Rees Finlay asked me if I’d contribute to it and after the incredible reception of the first issue I couldn’t wait to return.
The magazine contains outstanding work from a variety of underground talents with articles, reviews and interviews covering its pages. The diverse delights within include an interview with film director Christopher Clarke and actor Steve Taylor in which they discuss their Coventry-based zombie movie ‘Immune.’ An article tackling the struggles and stigmas of mental illness by Darrel Smith. An interview with musical theatre actress turned independent comic creator Jessica Martin, as well as an anarchic prose piece from me.
The publication also features an ‘Artists Spotlight’ on illustrator Yen Quach where she talks about her art style and showcases her striking work. An exiting preview of Al Davison’s ‘Muscle Memory’ can also be found amidst the explosion of creativity in which we are given an insight into The Astral Gypsy extraordinary life.
After digesting the magazine I can see that all the contributors have accelerated their abilities, almost every piece carves a unique place in the memory of the reader and is different from the last. If the quality of work continues to improve at this rate, I can’t help but expect even bigger and better things in the next issue.
